UK’s largest outdoor Premier Show, Royal Windsor Horse Show, will take place in the private grounds from 10th May and will conclude on the 14th. The show plays hosts to many different events such as the 5” International Show Jumping, which is also the highest level possible, as well as 4″ International Dressage among many other fascinating events. The events also include national classes in Jumping.
The much-celebrated show includes many exciting displays such as The Musical Ride of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, The Musical Drive of the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, DAKS Pony Club Mounted Games and The Shetland Pony Grand National. The site includes an extensive range of shopping villages, which hosts as many 250 stands. The public access to these private grounds is allowed only during this time of the year.
Windsor Horse Show’s Patron, HM The Queen, visits the show on an informal basis, often watching her horses compete. Windsor has five arenas to host different events spread across the week. The main arena is the Castle Arena and Frogmore, used primarily for jumping.
This will be the first year when Windsor hosts 5* show jumping, which happens to be the highest possible level. Large prize funds are surely going to fascinate top end riders. Dressage is a sport which combines the skill and elegance. Dressage is rated as 4* competition for 2017, which is a very high level. The Land Rover Grand Prix will take place over the four days as the teams of horses compete in different areas. Saturday, 13th May, will be the marathon which will finish on the final day.
Top displays of the event are
The Musical Ride of Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment – It is a world-renowned display, which most people would recognise from Horse Guards Parade in London. It involves high speed, precise moves to beautiful music.
The Musical Drive of The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery – This is one of the most enthralling displays of UK’s premier show. The displays include teams of horses flying around the arena and pulling the traditional wheeled guns at full tilt.
DAKS Pony Club Mounted Games – The games involves teams from England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland, who first take part in the qualifiers before the final, which would take place on the 15th.
